PSNA August Council Meeting Communique

Port Stephens Netball Association held a Special Council Meeting and its final Council Meeting for the year on 12 August 2026. A full quorum of members was present, and apologies were noted.
At the Special Council Meeting members moved the following motion:
PSNA Council proposes the temporary suspension of Clause 19.1 of the Constitution which states: 19.1 An Annual General Meeting of the Association will be held in March of each year.
This suspension is for the 2027 season to allow the Annual General Meeting to be held in February 2027 rather than March 2027.
This motion was passed by its eligible voting members.
A further motion was also put to members being:
PSNA Council proposes a change in the wording for:
19.11 The President, Secretary or Treasurer of the Association will not hold the position of President, Secretary or Treasurer of an Affiliated Member Club.
To:
19.11 The President, Secretary or Treasurer of the Association will not hold same the position of President, Secretary or Treasurer of an Affiliated Member Club.
This motion was not supported by its eligible voting members.
The Special Council Member was then concluded.
The Council Meeting opened, a full quorum of members was present, and apologies were noted. The meeting minutes from the previous meeting were confirmed as true and correct.
Business arising from the previous minutes.
Feedback was sort from members on the Blue Band (All Abilities) and Green Band (Under 18 Years Umpires) was discussed and Council members provided positive feedback and would like to see this continue.
The President provided a Health and Safety Updated and reminded members that consistent with our agreement with Port Stephens Council that the logs are considered to be traffic barriers and not seating area. Members are asked not to sit on the logs.
Executive Committee Reports were noted as tabled. The President provided a verbal report thanking Member Clubs for their cooperation across the season.
In General Business the 2027 calendar was discussed and agreed to bring the season forward to support Netball NSW request to have competition games completed prior to the Netball World Cup.

A discussion about the player eligibility for the 2027 Representative Season occurred. After considerable discussion from members the following motion was put to members for voting.
The following motion was considered by members to trial the following:
All players that are selected in a Port Stephens Netball Association Representative team, must be either a registered playing member in the 2026 Twilight Competition and / or a registered playing member by round 1 of each winter competition and:
Players registered for Junior State Titles must be a registered playing member in the PSNA winter competition and have played 5 competition games prior to attending Junior State Titles
Players registered for Senior State Titles must be a registered playing member in the PSNA winter competition and have played 3 competition games prior to attending Senior State Titles
The motion was carried.
Members discussed and agreed that the timings of games during the Final series would remain consistent with our Saturday playing times for each division.
Members were reminded that our next meeting would be the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 10 February 2027 and that a Council Meeting would follow.
