PSNA Council Meeting Summary – 14 May 2025

The PSNA Council convened on 14 May 2025 at 6:33 PM. The meeting included representatives from member clubs, life members, and the executive committee.


🗳️ Elections & Vacancies

  • Jenny Withey was elected as Umpires Convenor.

  • The following positions remain vacant:

    • All Abilities Convenor

    • Boys and Mens Convenor

    • Coaching Convenor

    • Carnival Convenor


🏥 Health & Safety

  • A new handrail was installed during the off-season.

  • Five injuries have been reported this season

  • Clubs are reminded to utilize the Knee Program resources are also available in the clubhouse.

  • Singleton Netball will host a Child Safe workshop on 29 May 2025, 6.30pm - register here


📊 Executive Reports

President (Jodi Cassar PSM)

  • Despite a wet start, the season's opening proceeded smoothly.

  • Launched Walking Netball, All Abilities, and the Net Program under NetSetGo.

  • Registrations for these programs are still open, register here.


Vice President (Sue Xenos)

  • Awaiting the outcome of a $2,500 Federal Grant to support coaches.

  • Applied for a grant to support the Indigenous Round, awaiting response. Exciting news since the meeting we have had it confirmed that we have received $3,000 grant to support Indigenous Round activities.


Treasurer (Emma Penfold)

  • Quarterly Financials to March 2025 have been provided to all Member Clubs.


Secretary (Michelle Archer)

  • No outstanding correspondence to report.


Representative Convenor (Nadina Marsh)

  • Countdown to State Titles:

    • Seniors: 24 days

    • Juniors: 52 days

  • Teams participating in divisions: 12s, 13s, 14s, 15s, 17s and Opens.

  • Senior State Titles teams will compete at Campbelltown District Netball Association.

  • Junior State Title teams will compete at Penrith District Netball Association.

  • Teams have shown strong on-court performance and off-court contributions, including running the BBQ and canteen in early rounds.

  • Paige Hadley conducted a clinic for all representative players, recently great success despite the wet.


Technical Services Convenor (Sue Coulter)

  • We are currently working with a small number of umpires to assist them in working towards their district and or national badges this season.

Games Services Convenor (Ash Caldwell)

  • The Competitions Committee members will come together after Round 3 to review the first three rounds and to tweak grading as may be required.

  • Participation numbers for 2025:

    • NetSetGo: 132 players (+10 from 2024)

    • Intermediate Division: 253 players (+13 from 2024)

    • Senior Division: 161 players (+4 from 2024)

  • Reminder that Day players should be listed in the "Filled-In Players" include the players full name and day registration in brackets.

  • Post the Competitions Committee meeting, we will revert back to the simple scoresheets.


🗣️ General Business

  • St Brigid’s raised concerns about the 10:35 AM timeslot, noting all 10 courts are in use, this leads to very congested car park area and limits court availability for training prior to game. Sue Xenos mentioned past opposition to splitting divisions into different timeslots; the Competitions Committee will discuss this after Round 3.

  • Jenny Withey proposed creating a Google Form to collect information on club umpires seeking coaching and badging.


📅 Upcoming Events

  • Crazy Hair and Sock Day: 24 May 2025. Funds raised will support the Kids Cancer Project.

  • Indigenous Round: 19 July 2025. Clubs interested in participating are encouraged to get involved.

  • Health and Wellbeing Round: 16 August 2025. Sophie Bradbery reported increased interest, seeking teams willing to play at alternative times. Swifts will set up an activation stall. Funds raised will benefit Talk to Me Bro and Jupiter. Acknowledgment was given to Sophie for her efforts.

  • Wet Weather Rounds: 10 and 24 August 2025. Decisions will follow the adverse weather policy; notifications may be short notice.

  • Carnival: 20 July 2025. Registrations are open; spots are filling quickly.
